BR CLASS 08 SHUNTER - Currently unavailable.
Update April 2024
We thought a little update was due for our patient, faithful supporters of this project.
For the most part we think most of you are aware that we jumped in too soon by making this available to preorder, however we also know that most of you realise and appreciate that because there's a hurdle on this project for us to overcome before we can fulfil all the preorders it doesn't mean that the production on new developments should stagnate and fall by the wayside. Our aim and our want is to keep TGauge moving forward and progress buoyant.
It has been suggested that the funds raised by the preorders has been spent elsewhere rather than on the production of the Class 08. We can assure you that is quite simply not the case with an actual eye-watering 7 x the amount raised through preorders already being spent on its production.
What we will say however is that development of new locos such as the Wee Nellie is helping us move forward with our production methods and the Class 08, albeit slowly.
Still, due to ongoing production issues with the manufacture of this locomotive we are still on the first stage of the hand-build and processing of all all pre-orders. Once this stage has been completed. We will look at the probability of there being a further issue.
We thank everyone who has pre-ordered for their patience while we 'get to you' however should you wish to remove yourself from the list and obtain a full refund please email us with your request.
Originally built in the UK between 1952-1962 the BR Class 08 Shunter was a diesel electric workhorse that every railway line/yard needed. With a top speed of 15mph and enough power to pack a punch it no doubt justified earning its nickname Gronk. However, modern day changes to the railway meant less need for such a powerhouse and many have since been exported, sold to industrial or heritage railways or converted.
